I don’t think that loved the book is a good description, but my heart was expanded and shrunk at times by reading it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is very sensitive as the story is very honest and the effects of the diseases were disturbing. Bryce Courtenay writes his son’s story of growing up as a haemophiliac who acquires AIDS from a blood transfusion during the time when AIDS was beyce hitting the news in the states.

This is a powerful, compelling account by his father, mother, and girlfriend Celeste of his childhood, young adulthood, and finally his demise. Depositing everything into a huge mass comes across as tedious sometimes. Damon grew up in Australia so no one really new what it was all about until it was too late and it was already in the blood banks.

There were so many obstacles: Change to standard view. It was also the reason for our one and only meeting, though I was lucky to interview him on two subsequent occasions.

I know that Bryce and Damon wanted this to be a love story, but it was just a tragedy to me. I laughed and I cried.

I commend Courtenay for his raw honesty. It describes bdyce the best and the worst of the medical profession: Join 1, other followers. This book is full of pain, it is heart wrenching. The story of his son Damon, born a haemophiliac who contracted HIV through a blood transfusion and later died of AIDS related complications is compelling for so many reasons. I had to pause quite often to take a breather and relax. I did, and soon after arriving in Australia, married her. Giving meaning to life and direction to goodness. This book is a gripping narrative about the struggles of the author’s Bryce Courtenay family over the years with the health complications of his hemophiliac son, their third child. I cried quite a bit and laughed as well. Young rated it really liked it. There is truly no other words to describe it expect that it is a must read novel that will change how you see life.
