The path loses height as it winds its way through the forest and just before a Y junction is reached, a green and white waymarker to the left of the trail marks a point where a short rocky staircase leads to a narrow path through the trees for about twenty yards and the secluded but pretty Grizedale Tarn appears just ahead.
